Prevention Services

At MSPCC, we believe that prevention of child abuse offers the best hope for our children.  If we can anticipate the stresses of today's families and equip them with the necessary tools and skills to respond to them, then we have provided the truest form of protection.  MSPCC prevention and support programs offer a wide range of services designed to respond to the individual needs of the children and families that we serve.

Early Intervention
MSPCC is one of the largest providers in Massachusetts of early intervention services for children with, or at risk of, developmental delays due to biological, medical, or environmental factors.  Services include eligibility screening, developmental assessment, home visits, parent/child groups, toddler groups, parent education groups, parent counseling, speech and language therapy, physical therapy, occupational therapy, nutrition and health education and information, referral, and advocacy.

GoodStart and Healthy Families
The mainstay of our prevention efforts is our GoodStart/Healthy Families program, serving nearly 5,000 families across Massachusetts every year.  Our goal is to give families and communities the strength and support they need to raise children who are safe, healthy, and ready to learn.

Connecting Families
Connecting Families is based, like all of the agency's programs, on the latest research and evidence-based approaches.  Through Connecting Families, MSPCC, in partnership with the government, intervenes with families who have been reported and investigated for child abuse and neglect, but do not meet the legal criteria for further government intervention.
