Families Helping Families

There are many ways that you and your family can help less fortunate and struggling families served by MSPCC. While your dollars are still needed to help the ever-growing demand for MSPCC services, here are some other ways your family can help our families throughout the year.

How you can help:

Support-A-Family Program:

We are matching donors with MSPCC clients (families) who are in need of basic assistance throughout the year.  How much you spend is up to you.  Whatever you give is more than they would have and every donation is truly appreciated.  The needs range; sample list below.

  • food
  • basic needs
  • clothing
  • household goods
  • birthday gifts
  • special items such as a high school ring or help to attend a school dance

Family support includes donors giving gift cards (cards to Target/Wal-Mart/local grocery store chains are always appreciated), items that they specifically need or any combination.  We ask that a donor consider supporting a family through the year remembering a birthday, graduation or a special occasion in their life.

We keep names and identities confidential.  There is no direct contact.  You will receive, however, thank you notes, which come through us to you.

Other ways you can help:

  • Have your children run a clothing drive, book drive or bake sale at their school to raise money for gifts.
  • Encourage your child to donate toys, clothing or books they’ve outgrown.
  • Spruce up a waiting room by donating toys, story books, crayons and coloring books or board games; or frame a piece of fun artwork that you create with your family
  • Take your children shopping with you to pick out items to be donated to any of our offices.  Ideas from the list below:
    • baby bottles, sippy cups
    • baby food,   baby formula
    • baby hair and bath products
    • baby equipment (i.e. car seat)
    • books for all ages
    • clothing for newborns up through teenagers
    • diapers, Pull-ups, baby wipes
    • household paper items
    • humidifier / vaporizer
    • oral hygiene products (toothpaste, mouthwash)
    • personal grooming items
