Megan Hempstead Boston Marathon 2021

MSPCC’s Foundation Relations Manager, Megan Hempstead, is running the 2021 Boston Marathon! Consider supporting Megan as she laces up and races to the finish line in support MSPCC’s work with children and families across Massachusetts.

Dear Family and Friends,

I am so pleased to share with you that I will be running the 2021 Boston Marathon on October 11th! The last time I was able to train for and run an actual, in-person race was November 2019 at the Philadelphia Marathon. So much has changed since then, but not my love for training for and running 26.2 miles (sorry, mom and dad!).

I will be running in support of the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC). While I’ve always been proud to work at MSPCC because of the agency’s leadership in the field of child welfare, my respect and admiration for MSPCC’s work with children and families has grown so much as we’ve navigated this pandemic. Our staff stepped up and did whatever was necessary to make sure that families – including young first-time parents, grandparents raising their grandchildren, youth who have experienced trauma and need behavioral health services, and foster families – could still access MSPCC’s vital prevention and clinical services. They also went back to basics and delivered groceries, diapers, and cleaning supplies to make sure kids and families stayed safe and healthy. I was honored to do my small part, writing grants that were (sometimes) funded to support these incredible efforts.

Now, I hope you will join me and MSPCC in striving to ensure that all children in Massachusetts are safe and healthy, in loving families that receive the support they need to thrive. Thank you so much for your generosity! And I hope to see you between Hopkinton and Boston on October 11th – I’ll be in my MSPCC “sprinkles” jersey!

With gratitude,

Megan
