Happy Mother’s Day!
We at MSPCC know that there are many ways someone can hold the role of “mother” in a child’s life. Today, in addition to biological mothers, we honor:
- Foster and adoptive mothers like Marissa, who care for their children with the knowledge that love is what makes a family;
- Stepmothers, who serve as “bonus moms,” ensuring their partners’ children have another supportive and nurturing adult by their side;
- Kinship caregivers, who bring family members’ children into their homes and make sure they know they are loved;
- People like Encompass Foster Care Specialist “Mama Barbie,” who walk alongside children and their families during the hard times, serving as key supports and guiding influences.
These are just a few types of “mothers” who show up for young people every day. However you choose to show up for the young people in your life, we wish you a very happy Mother’s Day.
