Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC) is proud to be part of the 2027 Bank of America Boston Marathon® Official Charity Program. We are recruiting 5 runners to be enthusiastic ambassadors and fundraisers for our work.

MSPCC reaches 15,000 children and caregivers across Massachusetts each year through an array of direct services, including child abuse and neglect prevention programs, clinical mental health counseling, and adoptive and foster parent support. With a nearly 150-year history, MSPCC is a trusted member in communities across MA, partnering with children, families, schools, and other providers so that all children can thrive and grow to lead happy, healthy lives.

Each Team MSPCC runner will be responsible for raising a minimum of $10,000. MSPCC’s experienced Fundraising and Communications professionals will support Team MSPCC with:

  • an introductory presentation and materials about MSPCC’s mission and programs;
  • a fundraising plan with suggested benchmarks and corresponding incentives;
  • an e-newsletter featuring fundraising tips;
  • sample communications, including a social media plan; and
  • fundraising event support.

In addition, MSPCC will provide training and race-day support, including:

  • MSPCC’s Director of Development, Megan Hempstead (17-time marathoner, 3-time Boston Marathon finisher), will provide high-level training guidance, motivation, group training runs, and race-day support;
  • A Boston-based Physical Therapist will provide: a virtual group kick-off session with Q&A focused on tips to avoid injury; a list of suggested resources; and availability to book PT sessions, as needed; and
  • A Boston-based Running Coach will provide: training plans; resources on training, recovery, and nutrition; and virtual group coaching.

MSPCC will prioritize applicants who display the following qualities:

  • a connection to youth behavioral health and child welfare;
  • an established giving network and history of successful fundraising; and
  • characteristics to positively and enthusiastically represent MSPCC and the Boston Marathon as a Charity Runner Ambassador.
