Our Work
Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC) and MassAIMH have had a collaborative partnership since 2019 establishing, strengthening, and expanding the diverse Massachusetts infant and early childhood mental health (IECMH) workforce. Our work has supported behavioral health clinicians, pediatricians, family partners, home visitors, and early education and care practitioners.
New Release: A Mapping of Workforce Assets and Needs: Massachusetts IECMH
We are excited to announce the release of A Mapping of Workforce Assets and Needs: Massachusetts IECMH, a report produced by MSPCC and Boston University and funded by The Boston Foundation. This new study highlights strengths and barriers in the infant and early childhood mental health and relational workforce, providing a foundation for informing policy and advocacy efforts to strengthen workforce trainings and infrastructure.
The Need: IECMH Workforce Development
The call to expand efforts driving equity in behavioral health supports for children, including Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH) support is being met by the MSPCC and MassAIMH partnership. The partnership plays a prominent role in preparing IECMH professionals for their work by closely collaborating with state partners in the Commonwealth creating equitable access to Culturally Sensitive, Relationship-Focused Practice Promoting Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health®, while expanding workforce capacity.
A robust, diverse, well-trained, and interdisciplinary workforce is central to ensuring that all children in the Commonwealth have equitable access to infant and early childhood mental health (IECMH) supports and services supporting not only mitigation of negative impacts of adverse childhood experiences but also support thriving early relational health and wellness of our youngest and their families in the state.
The Efforts: Training, Policy & Advocacy and Systems Building
