For the second year in a row, a young person involved with MSPCC was treated to a complete bedroom redesign courtesy of IA Interior Architects Boston. Sixteen-year-old Josh* was lucky to have a room to call his own, but it lacked the design and decor touches that make a space truly feel like home.

Designers from the IA team traveled to Josh’s Dorchester home, where he lives with his grandmother and siblings, and worked with him to create a fun, uplifting space with a design that integrated his interests – including Super Mario, outer space, and gaming. When he saw his “new” room, Josh commented, “My room looks different, but it feels really comfortable. Everything has its place, and I love all of the details.”
IA strives to “improve people’s lives through visionary design” – and in true fashion, the team brought their signature vision and creativity to Josh’s bedroom. IA Managing Principal and MSPCC Board of Advisor, Reetika Vijay, who organized the project, commented, “It makes us feel so good to change a child’s life year after year.”

As an added bonus, the team left behind supplies and inspiration that Harriet*, Josh’s grandmother, will use to spruce up his 12-year-old brother’s room as well. When reflecting on the redesign, Harriet commented, “This has given him a comfortable and inspiring space. I am so pleased he was chosen for this project, and he is still loving the room makeover. I cannot thank you enough for the kindness and generosity shown to us.”
