If you looked at MSPCC’s office during December, you might think you transported to Santa’s village with all the toys and festive wrapping paper around. However, you won’t see elves scurrying around or old Saint Nick here, just dedicated staff trying to make holiday wishes come true for local families.
Every year, MSPCC works with its various programs across the state to see which children and families are in need this holiday season. Last year, MSPCC was able to provide gifts to more than 315 children; this year, it will be close to 500 children.
Each child is granted two items from their wishlist. The planning for this undertaking starts in September.
Of course, MSPCC wouldn’t be able to provide this holiday cheer if it wasn’t for donors and corporate sponsors. Some of our corporate sponsors for the 2022 holiday season are Ballentine Partners, Bright Horizons Foundation for Children, Boston Mutual, MBTA, PwC, St. George Orthodox Church, Yale Appliance, and MSPCC’s Young Professional Board.
One of our longest corporate sponsors is the accounting company PwC. They have been a corporate sponsor since 2013.
“Each year, our team looks forward to the opportunity to work with the MSPCC in helping to make the holidays special for the children and families in our community. We are reminded of how fortunate we are to be able to contribute in this small way. We gather as a team to wrap the gifts and celebrate the MSPCC – it is truly one of our favorite events of the year,” said Ellie Gaffney of PwC.
This year PwC sponsored 250 kids.
“At PwC, we are purpose-led and values-driven. Our values of making a difference and working together are so important to our team. Through the MSPCC holiday toy drive, we have the opportunity to work together as a team to fulfill some Christmas wishes. We are so grateful to the MSPCC for all they do for our community year-round, for their partnership with our team over the years, and for the wonderful connections we have built with the MSPCC team.”
Meanwhile, at MSPCC’s prevention program in Holyoke, they recently thanked Springfield Public Defender’s Office for their dedication this holiday season to help local families.
When the Covid-19 pandemic hit in 2020, the Springfield Public Defender’s Office reached out to see how they could help and have donated toys to those in need and have been doing it ever since.
“These presents will be under the tree that otherwise might not be there. Having extra funds during Christmas time is rare for these families. We very much appreciate the Springfield Public Defender’s Office’s generosity, especially during Covid times,” said Regional Director of Prevention Programs Nancy Tratenberg-Ritz.
Recently, MSPCC staff got to thank the Springfield Public Defender’s Office in person and introduce them to some of the families they have helped. This year the organization sponsored 74 families.
